Chinese Cultures vs. Western Cultures

I am involved in a few Chinese social groups in my university. I was also an executive for one of the Hong Kong student societies. My university is mainly made up of Chinese, Hong Kongnese, and Indian students. Before I got into university, most of my friends were Caucasians or people from other Asian countries, I have never had real Hong Kong friends before. I feel like it is really hard to get along with Chinese. When I applied and got accepted for a job position in the society, everyone was so friendly; I felt involved, and I was passionate and energetic about my job. Soon I've realized that I am an outsider, and I am glad that I am not the only person who thinks that way. I met another girl in the group, she will also an executive. She was a Canadian born Chinese like me. We both saw a lot of problems in the Chinese student groups: Always asking for money, super fake, very competitive, really unfriendly, very ambitious, and always thinking about things like how to climb up the ladder and using other people. I was in the marketing/promotion department. The president of the marketing department was discussing with me about our sponsorship proposal, I offered to write up and think about new ideas for the proposal. After I've finished, I posted it to the club's discussion page. It showed on the side that I was the one who posted it. One minute after I posted it, the president took it off the internet and re-posted it with her name. I was blamed for not participating and contributing to the group. I soon lost my motivation to work for the group, and stopped contributing, and finally I got fired. Most of the students in the group are Management students (BBA). They will soon be going back to Hong Kong to find jobs. If these people are the future businesspeople, I now fully understand how the workplace in China is like. I need to develop myself more in order to fit and succeed in the workplace. I understand from personal experience, and from looking at my family that businesspeople do not play by the books. To help myself develop more, I've joint another student group, and have already applied for a position. I am going to work harder this time, and not let anyone put me down. I am going to leave off with this quote.
"In the struggle for survival, the fittest win out at the expense of their rivals because they succeed in adapting themselves best to their environment."- Charles Darwin
