The Story of Amanda Todd-- It's scary to imagine how ruthless humans can get

Amanda Michelle Todd, died October 10th 2012 at the age of 15.

Here is a brief summary about the tragic story of Amanda Todd:
When Amanda was around 13, she got into online chatting, and started to meet new people on facebook where she met a 32 year old man in B.C. She fell in love with the man, then she made a foolish choice of sending a picture of her to him with her upper body naked. That's when her horror started. The man threatened her, made her do stuff that she didn't want. That Christmas, the RCMP knocked on her door, informing her about how pictures of her naked were posted all over the school. She was bullied everyday. She had moved to many different provinces across Canada in an attempt to escape from her bullies. The guy soon found the new school that she was attending and sent in the pictures again. She finally committed suicide, but it took her 3 tries before she finally succeeded.

Thoughts:
- She was only 13, everyone makes mistakes. Why can't we just forgive and forget? Does she really deserve these types of treatments?
- It is scary and sick to just think about what humans are capable of doing. The harm that we can inflict on others, and enjoying it at the same time...it's just ....inhumane.
- We didn't give Amanda a chance to change. Yes, she did make a stupid choice; she was childish, but so what? She will eventually grow up, and look back at what she did. We didn't even give the chance to reflect back at what she did.....Even criminals get a second chance after coming out from prison, why can't a 15 year old girl be given the same opportunity?
- The man was the person who was seducing her, she was just a victim of cyber bully.
Please stop with the bully....One person has already been sacrificed, we don't need another victim to see how much damage bullying can cause a person. I have personally been a victim of bully before, and I know how it feels. I wouldn't want other people to have to go through the same thing again as Amanda did. I was lucky enough that I was optimistic about things..not everyone has that ability.

Why is Roger Federer the best tennis player?

Why is Roger Federer the best tennis player.....First take a look at 2012 Men's single rankings!!
1. Roger Federer
2. Novac Djokovic
3. Andy Murray
4. Rafael Nadal
5. David Ferrer
6. Jo Wilfried Tsonga
7. Tomas Berdych
8. Juan Martin del Potro
9. Janko Tipsarevic
10. Juan Monaco

I am not saying players like Djokovic, Murray, Nadal are not good players, they are just comparatively better when put against other current players. If they were to play with the legends like John McEnroe, Andre Agassi, Pete Sampras, and like Boris Becker, they wouldn't even make it into the top 10. The only person that would stand a chance against them would be Roger Federer.

Roger Federer is a well rounded player; he makes excellent drop shots, volleys, backhands, etc, but he has an exceptional forehand. Anyone who plays tennis would know about Federer's between the legs shots, behind the back forehand etc. He is an extraordinary tennis player.

Roger Federer has the most grand slam titles, 17 total. The last grand slam he won was Wimbledon this past summer. Whereas, Sampras has 14 titles.

However, Federer isn't perfect. He does make some unforced errors, but not much. Why is that? His attitude towards the match. He rarely gets upset. Unlike other players (McEnroe, Murray etc.), he stays calm. Take the US open finals as an example. Federer vs. Agassi. He wasn't playing his best in the previous rounds, but when facing Agassi, Federer was destroying him in the finals.

He is really focused in his game, his mind is really clear. Notice how after every single shot, his hand doesn't just wave around unlike Nadal. He gets back to the middle if he isn't sure what the opponent will do, but he is usually a step ahead of his opponent. Being ahead doesn't mean he is jumping to conclusions. He is very observant; he isn't just guessing about what the opponent will do. Would he make an inside-out shot? or will it be a shot up the net? He doesn't just guess, he is observant, smart, and has got real skills. Nadal on the other hand, all he has is power. Federer isn't as strong as Nadal, but he has techniques. Players like Nadal will get injured a lot, and will have to retire at an early age. Federer is pretty old, but he is still healthy and playing.

Learn from your mistakes, and move on

Life is what you make out of it. If you choose to do nothing with it, you will never be successful.
I know this sounds kind of like the American Dream "Life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability or achievement," and not a lot of people belief in this. But I think this is true. I am not saying that social class or circumstances of birth doesn't have an effect on your future. As a matter of fact, it does somewhat effects your future, but as long as you try hard enough, nothing's impossible. It doesn't matter where you come from, or what social status you have.....As long as you try your best, follow your dreams, your life will become meaningful and happy.
I've made a lot of mistakes throughout my lifetime (not that I am that old), and I am young, so I guess I am allowed to make mistakes...lol..but what I am trying to say is...Even though I really regret what I did, and I know that if I can relive my life, a lot of things would have changed. But what has happened has happened, and we can't do anything to change that. So why not make what's left of your life more meaningful? Learn from your mistakes, don't make the same stupid mistakes that you've made when you were young, and just move on!!!

Hong Kong People's Common Mistakes in Written English

I was going through my friend's essay today, and found some typical mistakes that a Hong Kong person would make.
1. Although there are many rich people living in Canada, but poor people still exists.
- Although already indicates but. There is no need for a but after the comma.
- People is plural, therefore, no s is needed
Although there are many rich people living in Canada, poor people still exist.

2. Not only was I late, I also missed my class.
- "Not only" is always followed by "but also"
Not only was I late, but I also missed my class

3. You remember me to bring an extra shirt
- remember me (.....I am not dead yet, no need to remember me) (記得我)
- remind me (提醒我)
You remind me to bring an extra shirt

4. There are too many water
- Water is not a countable object..."many" is used for countable object only. Should use "must"
-  Same thing applies to are..."are" is used for countable object too. Should use "is"

5. How to go to the office.
How do I go to the office

As I've said in my previous post. Reading more English books will help improve your English!!!
